Best multi-agent tools for Windows
Many tools for running several AI coding agents started on the Mac. This is what works on Windows, from each project's documentation as of 24 October 2026. Check each for its current state. We make Paneherd, which runs on Windows.
| Tool | Windows? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Paneherd | Yes | VS Code or Cursor extension; Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, Cursor, Gemini CLI in a grid |
| VS Code Agent Sessions | Yes (inside VS Code) | Agents run through Copilot's harnesses; see the comparison |
| Windows Terminal | Yes | Split panes, no agent status; pair with a worktree per agent |
| Claude Code agent view | Claude Code runs natively on Windows | Claude only; see the comparison |
| Claude Squad | Not listed | Needs tmux, so WSL is the likely route; see the comparison |
| Superset | Not yet | README: macOS, experimental Linux |
| Conductor | No | Described as a Mac app |
| cmux | No | macOS terminal |
A practical Windows setup
- Install the agents you use: Claude Code on Windows, Codex, others.
- Give each agent that changes code its own worktree.
- Open them in one VS Code window with Paneherd, and keep the limits in the status bar with the free Usage Meter.
